A video oral history project

This project aims to preserve the life and memories of Toshiro and Keiko Otake: Japanese immigrants to America, important Japanese American community leaders, and my grandparents.

The interviews are divided by theme and organized in loose chronological order. To watch them, click the images below or use the “Videos” dropdown menu at the top right of the page. Hear them retell their one-of-a-kind stories, which touch on themes of immigration, community building, intergenerational relations, and collective memory.
